Exercise: Offloading The Baggage

We carry a lot of questionable truths in our heads the longer we stay in our jobs. Things about what we can do, what the world is like outside, how we would be viewed, whether things are going to get magically better if we just wait.

This Bad Thinking can really keep us stuck. It can keep make us overly risk-averse, avoid opportunities and ultimately reduce our confidence. This exercise encourages you to call out that Bad Thinking, give it a label, and then it becomes much easier to see it for what it is - and dismantle it.

There may be a hint of truth to the Bad Thinking, but your job is to flip it into something positive that can propel you forward and may even be an asset you will be able to use in your life after corporate.
