Exercise: Mind The Gap(s)

For each stage of the Escape Method write down where you have a gap and what you’re going to do about – and if it is really, really, truly stopping you from proceeding with your exit.

Some gaps that block our exit are real, some are imagined. But in my experience, it’s not worth brushing the ones that may be in your head under the carpet, because they tend to come back and bite you – or cause you untold angst at 3am when you can’t sleep – and you’re vulnerable to the gremlins.

Whether you’re looking to leave your corporate job or have been made redundant,

I find the Escape Method – Detach, Audit, Explore, Exit, Sustain – tends to surface most gaps. Typically, one stage makes you feel the most anxious and it’s the one where you need to do most work.
