Exercise: Drains And Energizers

No-one enjoys work all the time. Some things get us in flow, some things make us want to run for the hills. This is your opportunity to reset what work you do.

When we’re on the treadmill we don’t give ourselves a lot of time and space to recognize what makes us unhappy and why - or equally why we enjoy the things we do. We just get on with it. It’s part of the trade-off when we don’t have much agency over the work we do.

But you’re pretty silly if you don’t factor what drains and energizes you when designing what you do next. Invest the time now and design out the drains (if you can) and only do what energizes you.
